Privacy
Shade Studio runs entirely in your browser. Your designs, settings and any JSON file you load are processed on your device and are never uploaded. There are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising or tracking scripts.
We count anonymous export totals. When you press an export button the site records only that an export happened, on which UTC day, which kinds of file it included (STL, SCAD, PNG, JSON or zip) and whether it came from the shade or the base tool. No personal data is stored, and nothing about your design or your files is sent. To stop the totals being inflated, a one-way hash of the network address is kept for about two minutes to limit how often one place can count, and then it expires; the address itself is never stored.
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying individual visitors. Nothing about your lampshade design is part of that data.
Terms of use
Shade Studio and the files it generates (STL, SCAD, PNG and JSON) are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Dimensions, weight and print-time figures are estimates. Check the model in your slicer before printing; you are responsible for whether a design is suitable for your printer, material and purpose.
Electrical safety
A lampshade holds a light source, so safety is your responsibility.
- Use a certified lamp socket and a certified cable set that match your local mains standards.
- Use only a CE-certified lamp socket and cable set, and keep all mains wiring inside those certified parts. Never print a part that holds live conductors.
- Use LED bulbs only. Incandescent and halogen bulbs get hot enough to deform or ignite most 3D-printing plastics.
- Keep the shade clear of the bulb, and never leave a lamp you built unattended until you have checked how warm the shade gets.
- If you are unsure about mains wiring, ask a qualified electrician.
Shade Studio provides geometry only. You are responsible for electrical safety, for the choice of bulb and for checking the finished lamp. PLA softens around 55 °C, so keep the bulb well away from printed parts.
